The Statistical Institute of human rights activists in the Iranian occupation state has published a report on the occasion of the World Day against the death penalty, and the report aims to draw public attention to the conditions of thousands of people currently on death row .

The report confirmed that between October 10, 2021 and October 7, 2022, at least 528 people were executed by hanging in various parts of the occupation state, which is an increase of 98% compared to the same period last year.

Death sentences are issued and carried out against citizens of Iran while many defendants are denied access to a fair trial and also because independent human rights groups in Iran are not allowed to report on the ideal number of executions. From October 10, 2021 to October 7, 2022, 439 reports were recorded by the Institute of Statistics, publishing and collecting human rights activists in Iran regarding executions, of which 7 people were sentenced to death in public, according to the report.

At least five of them are also women. In addition, during the mentioned date, 528 people were executed, one of whom was publicly executed. Among the identified victims, 20 of those executed were female, and 6 of those executed were under the age of 18 at the time of the crime.

The execution of death sentences in the period under review compared to the same period of the previous year increased by at least 98%, the issuance of death sentences decreased by 1%, and the execution of women also showed an increase of 55%. .

According to the information collected, 50.38% of those executed were for premeditated murder and 41.29% for drug crimes in Iran, 3.03% for sexual crimes, 2.46% for unknown charges. 1.70% are accused of nepotism (non – political), 0.38% are accused of nepotism (political – security), 0.38% are accused of security (espionage – terrorist bombing-terrorist bombing) and 0.38% are accused of armed robbery.
