Environmental catastrophe.. Ahwaz lands threatened with salinity due to Jamsheer dam

Wetlands and rivers in the occupied Arab state of Ahwaz are threatened by drought due to lack of water resources and high salinity due to the construction of the “Jamsheer” dam on the Ahwaz rivers, to transport water into Persian interior, environmental activists have warned.

In new geological studies, 60% of the bottom of Lake Jamsheer dam is susceptible to salinity, and a salt bump has been detected near the Ahwaz rivers in the vicinity of the dam.

In addition, the presence of 11 oil wells in and around the perimeter of the dam has unexpected environmental risks.

At the same time, Al-Ahuz suffers from many problems due to climatic changes and global warming, such as the increase in fine dust and the destruction of wetlands.
