Iran imposes a security blockade on Ahwaz ahead of the centennial of the occupation and warns against protests

The Iranian occupation intelligence summoned hundreds of Ahwazi individuals who had previously been arrested during protests to intelligence centers in Ahwazi cities. In these centers, they were warned against participating in any demonstrations over the coming weeks, as Ahwazis prepare to commemorate the centenary of the occupation of Ahwaz.

Iranian occupation intelligence in Ahwaz instructed former detainees not to “participate in any gatherings or protests,” and forced them to sign letters pledging to adhere to this.

The Iranian occupation intelligence also directed former detainees not to “post materials on social media that encourage people to gather and protest” in the event of a rise in gasoline prices or any other issue that could provoke public anger.

Most of those summoned are from the cities of Ahwaz, Masjed Soleyman, Khorramshahr, Shushtar, and others, including Khour Musa, Hormuz, Bushehr, Jambron Port, Dezful, and Karun.

The summons of these Ahwazi citizens comes at a time when Iranian intelligence forces and the Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence unit have launched a widespread wave of arrests across various regions of Ahwaz since mid-December.

This arrest campaign has specifically targeted writers, poets, cultural activists, environmental activists, and leaders of labor and educational unions.
