Extension of detention for five Ahwazi political prisoners in sheiban prison

Human rights reports revealed that Iranian authorities extended on Tuesday the detention of five Ahwazi political prisoners for an additional month.

The detainees are: Mokhtar Al-Boushouka, Mostafa Hleiji, Reza Hezbawi, Abbas Saadi, and Amer Majasbah all held in Ward 5 of Sheiban Prison in the city of Ahwaz.

According to sources, the decision was issued by investigator “Lirki” from Branch 13 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Ahwaz. This latest extension is part of a series of repeated detention renewals since the arrest of the five prisoners.

The reports added that on Monday, the detainees presented their final defenses via video conference before the Branch 13 investigator, in connection with charges of “belonging to a rebellious group.”

The information also indicated that two of the detainees Mostafa Hleiji, son of Jamal, and Reza Hezbawi, son of Ramadan are Arab poets and civil activists. They were arrested by the Public Security Police known as “Faraja VAPA,” before being transferred to a security detention center, and later to Sheiban Prison after a month of their arrest.
