A group of workers from the sugar cane factory in Sabaa Atlal in the occupied Arab Ahwaz protested on Saturday against low salaries in light of difficult living conditions.

Earlier, sugar cane workers in Sabaa Atlal organise strike after Iranian occupation forces fired shots to disperse the striking workers.

The Sugar Cane Workers’ Union said, “After the sugar cane workers gathered in the factory area in front of the company’s security office entrance, one of Sabaa Atlal barrier officers fired shots in the air to disperse the striking workers.”

One of the workers confirmed that they had not received their wages for nearly two months and fifteen days, amid difficult living conditions, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic that has made life harder for many citizens, along with the oppressive practices of the Iranian occupation authorities.
