Al-Falahia farms are one of the main centers of date production in Al-Ahwaz. The cultivated area is more than 57,000 hectares of arable land, but due to the drying up of Nahr Al-Jarhi, only half of this land is cultivated.
Environmental activists in the area believe that the drinking water of the people of Fellahia has become saline and depleted due to the reduced flow of water from the Karun River, and as a result the treatment plants have been closed. Because the treatment plants fear that their equipment will be damaged by the high salinity.
Ahwaz’s water needs in the field of agriculture, drinking, industry, environment, etc. are estimated to be about 32 to 33 billion cubic meters, and the water supply in upstream dams is about 29 billion cubic meters in dams, which does not meet Ahwaz’s protests of water.
