20 Months of Suffering: Human Rights Concerns for Houman Al-Massi’s Life in Sheyban Prison

Human rights sources have expressed concerns about the life of political prisoner Houman Al-Massi, who has been detained in Sheyban Prison, under Iranian occupation in Ahwaz, for over 20 months.

The sources stated that the case of political prisoner Houman Al-Massi remains in a state of uncertainty, as no court has yet been established to address the charges against him.

Houman Al-Massi has been held in Sheyban Prison for more than 20 months, with no trial arranged or the possibility of release on bail provided.

The Iranian occupation security forces arrested Houman Al-Massi in April 2023. He was transferred to a detention center affiliated with the Intelligence Administration of the occupation in Ahwaz. Two months later, following the interrogation process, he was moved to Sheyban Prison.

On October 18, Houman Al-Massi went on a hunger strike in Sheyban Prison to protest his prolonged detention of over a year without resolution. Following this action, he was transferred to solitary confinement within the prison. After some time and a promise from the authorities, he ended his hunger strike and was returned to the general prison ward.
