Iran’s revolutionary guard kidnaps Abdulaziz Naami in Ahwaz

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Intelligence forces detained, on Friday, 21 November 2025, the citizen Abdulaziz Naami, 35, a prominent figure in the Ahwazi community, in the Al-Malashiya neighborhood while he was returning from Friday prayers, according to local sources.

The sources reported that Naami was severely beaten before being taken to an unknown location, and no information has been made available so far regarding his fate or health condition.

Abdulaziz Naami is married and a father of three children. His arrest comes amid an escalating campaign against Ahwazi citizens in recent months, during which dozens have been detained on security and religious charges described by former detainees and families of the arrested as “fabricated and solely related to religious beliefs.”

One Ahwazi citizen, who spent time in detention this year, said the accusations are baseless, adding: “They accuse us of blasphemy and of belonging to extremist groups simply because we are Ahwazi.”

He also pointed out that interrogations are marked by harshness and humiliation, to the extent that some officers interfere in the personal religious practices of detainees, which may influence the sentences issued against them.

As of the publication of this report, Iran has not issued any clarification regarding the reason for Abdulaziz Naami’s arrest or his place of detention. His family expresses deep concern for his safety and life.
