Iranian marginalization exacerbates the education crisis in Ahwazi Hormoz

The Council of Popular Demands in Hormoz, located in southern Ahwaz, revealed that more than 27,000 students have dropped out of school in the cities of southern Ahwaz a serious indicator of the worsening education crisis in the region. Activists describe this situation as the result of systematic marginalization and discriminatory policies pursued by the Iranian authorities.

The Council stated that among these students are about 5,000 children from families receiving social welfare support, warning that the continuation of this situation could lead to deep social and cultural damage, threatening the future of generations in the area.

The Council called on the Iranian authorities to find urgent and comprehensive solutions to this educational crisis, pointing to the vast economic resources available in Hormoz, including major industries in steel, aluminum, refineries, and free zones.

The statement proposed allocating a portion of the revenues from these sectors to support the educational process and bring children back to school, emphasizing that “devoting just a few hours of the annual income from major industries could solve the problems of thousands of families.”

The southern regions of Ahwaz are witnessing increasing neglect by Iranian authorities in matters of education, health, and infrastructure, while local and international voices continue to rise, calling for an end to the discriminatory policies against the Ahwazi Arab people.
