Arrest of Ahwazi Blogger Donya Hosseini in Tehran Amid Lack of Information About Her Condition

Amid escalating crackdowns against the Arab Ahwazi people, Iranian occupation security forces have arrested Ahwazi blogger Donya Hosseini, who resides in Tehran.

She has been held in custody for over 13 days, with her health and psychological condition reportedly unstable.

A source close to Hosseini’s family reported that security forces raided her home in Tehran on Monday, June 16, 2025, arresting her without providing any explanation.

The family was later informed that she had been transferred to Evin Prison—one of Iran’s most notorious facilities known for its oppressive practices.

Since her arrest, her home has been completely sealed off by police, and her family has been unable to contact her—especially after Evin Prison was targeted in an attack by the Israeli army, leading to the relocation of many prisoners to other facilities in Tehran.

This has further deepened the uncertainty surrounding Donya’s whereabouts and medical condition.

Donya Hosseini, 37, originally from the occupied Arab city of Ahwaz, is one of hundreds of women detained for participating in the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement, which opposes the regime’s repression of women.

She is particularly known for her active presence on social media.

Human rights organizations continue to demand the release of Hosseini and all other detained women, warning of the worsening conditions they face under the harsh circumstances inside Iranian prisons.
