Ahwazi Welcome for belgian parliament’s designation of Iran’s revolutionary guard as a terrorist organization
Ahwazis have welcomed the decision of the Belgian Parliament, which voted early Friday to classify Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a “terrorist organization.
” They described the move as a significant step in exposing the true nature of this entity, which is responsible for repression and violations against peoples under Iranian occupation, particularly the Ahwazi people.
Out of the total members of parliament, 135 voted in favor of the decision, while 14 abstained. No votes were cast in opposition.
The Belgian Parliament also urged the European Union to adopt a similar stance.
The IRGC is considered one of the main tools used by the Iranian regime to suppress various peoples, especially the Ahwazi population, which has been under Iranian occupation since 1925. Since then, Ahwazis have endured systematic policies of discrimination, ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, and abuse, along with land and resource confiscation, and the repression of any political or cultural expression of their Arab Ahwazi identity.
According to Ahwazi activists, this decision represents a clear international condemnation of the IRGC’s practices. They called for expanding this initiative to include more international positions that reject Iran’s occupation of Al-Ahwaz and support the Ahwazi people’s right to self-determination and the restoration of their state.
