The Executive Conference of the Ahwaz State calls on the international community to stand with the Ahwazi people

The Executive Committee of the Arab Ahwaz State, in a statement, called on the international community to commit to standing alongside the Ahwazi people and all non-Persian peoples living in Iran, while fully respecting their basic rights and striving to help them achieve their aspirations and realize their freedom from a repressive regime that violates their rights.

This took place during the International Forum for Security and Peace in the Middle East regarding Iran, held in the Belgian capital, Brussels.

The statement affirmed that all international conventions and resolutions assert that people, within the framework of general international law, are considered a higher value than the state. The state is a product of historical circumstances, political struggles, and the influences of wars and conflicts that have defined the borders of the state, while the people remain the highest value in international law and human rights.

This is especially relevant with the modern concept of the contemporary state, which has granted peoples rights extending to the demand for self-determination or secession from the state, in accordance with the international conventions governing the idea of the state in our contemporary history.

The statement concluded by calling on the international community and human rights organizations to intensify their efforts to address the widespread violations committed by Iran against the Ahwazi people and non-Persian peoples, and to support their legitimate rights, with the aim of achieving security and peace in the Middle East.
