Iranian Occupation Intelligence Detains Ahwazi Activist Hashem Al-Mousawi

Iranian occupation intelligence forces have detained Ahwazi political activist Sayyed Hashem Al-Mousawi, 56, from his home in the city of Sheyban, located in the Arab state of Al-Ahwaz. He was taken to an undisclosed location following the raid.

Al-Mousawi is considered one of the most prominent political activists in Al-Ahwaz. Since 2005, he has been arrested three times by Iranian intelligence, spending a total of seven years in occupation prisons.

During his detentions, Al-Mousawi suffered severe psychological and physical torture at the hands of the regime’s intelligence agents.

The Iranian occupation intelligence has been conducting widespread campaigns of arrests targeting Ahwazi activists, often without any clear legal justification or tangible evidence against those detained.

These arrests are part of the Iranian regime’s broader strategy to suppress political and human rights activists in regions inhabited by minority groups, including the Baluchis, Kurds, Turks, Azeris, and Ahwazis.

The escalation in arrests by Iranian occupation intelligence in Al-Ahwaz coincides with the 100th anniversary of Al-Ahwaz’s occupation—a highly symbolic occasion for the Ahwazi people, who continue to fight for their rights against a regime known for its systematic marginalization and oppression.

According to human rights reports and local testimonies, Iranian occupation authorities have arrested dozens of activists, politicians, and even ordinary workers in recent weeks. These individuals are part of a larger movement advocating for the national and cultural rights of the Ahwazi people.

Sources indicate that this campaign has specifically targeted influential figures seeking to revive historical and cultural awareness of the Ahwazi plight, particularly during this period marking the centenary of the occupation.
