The Arab region of Ahwaz was listed among the eleven independent states in the Middle East.

Social media activists shared a document confirming the independence of the occupied Arab region of Ahwaz before it fell under the control of Iranian authorities.

Hamed Al-Kanani posted it on his social media page and commented, “In January 1920, the Arab region of Ahwaz, with its capital Al-Muhammarah, was included in the list of eleven independent countries in the Middle East.”

Al-Kanani noted that the list had been compiled by Lord Curzon, the British Gulf policy leader, who fell ill in the same year and passed away four years later.

Al-Kanani added, “At that time, British foreign policy had shifted, and Reza Khan was chosen to protect England’s interests.” This post gained significant traction among activists and politicians.

The Arab region of Ahwaz has been suffering from Persian occupation for decades.
