The Ahwaz Arabism in the Historical and Contemporary Geography of Dr Tharwat al Hankawi al Lahibi. A significant document on Ahwaz
The geographical importance of the Ahwaz region, which, due to its presence at the front of the Arabian Gulf and along the Shatt al Arab, is very important as a trade corridor, as it is a transit corridor for goods that pass through India to neighbouring and distant countries.
The book ‘Arabism of Ahwaz in Historical and Contemporary Geography’ by Dr Tharwat al Hankawi al Lahibi is the title under which a study documented by scientific evidence and maps seeks to confirm the Arabism this vast geographical area.
The book is an important historical-geographical document, and one of the most important books on the geography of Al-Ahwaz in the Arab Library, especially since it included information, and narrated a sober analysis of the author, who began with an introduction and an introduction – a historical chapter -, eleven chapters, a conclusion and four appendices.
In the first chapter, the author explained the differences between the names: Khuzestan, Ahwaz, Ahwaz, and Arabistan, analyzing why the word Ahwaz was popularized, which is a mistake and the correct one is Ahwaz.
The second chapter, in which Dr. Tharwat al-Hankawi al-Hibi explained, with evidence and arguments, that Persia is not related to the province of Ahwaz, and the latter is not related to Persia, and that all that is in the matter is that one of them abuts/adjacent to the other geographically only, and he cited a number of ancient maps that were named after me more than For ten centuries, especially the Iskhrik and Hawqali – that is, the traveler and geographer Istakhri and Ibn Hawqal.
The third chapter: explains the wealth and resources in Al-Ahwaz, and cites the phrase of the geographer “Al-Maqdisi” who said about the wealth of Al-Ahwaz, “This is a region whose land is copper, its vegetation is gold.. rivers of wonder,” in which he addressed the historical and contemporary geography of the Al-Ahwaz region.
Dr. Tharwat al-Hankawi al-Lahibi believes that there is no connection with Persia from near or far. The book, in large pieces, is 651 pages long, and contains an introduction and fourteen chapters.
Al-Lahibi said on the sidelines: “It is a comprehensive encyclopedia on the Arab region of Ahwaz and an important geographical-historical document, documenting various proofs that confirm the Arabness of Ahwaz, in addition to monitoring all the changes and violations committed by Iran against the region to change its identity and seize its resources over decades and eras.”
It also includes adequate maps and appendices on the natural and geographical topography of the region, as it covers all issues related to the province of Ahwaz, analyzing, documenting and explaining many stations, dimensions and events. It is an invitation to the Arabs and the whole world, for their sensuality to strive, care, and work to lift the Iranian colonial oppression from the region.
