Rising Violations in Ahwaz: Execution of Tayeb Mahmoudi in Al-Huweira Prison
In a continuation of the human rights violations committed by Iran, the execution of Arab prisoner Tayeb Mahmoudi, a resident of the city of Quneitra in occupied Ahwaz, was carried out in Al-Huweira “Sepidar” Prison in the city of Ahwaz.
According to details, the execution was carried out on the morning of Saturday, August 9, 2025, against the 26-year-old Tayeb Mahmoudi from Quneitra, who had been arrested five years earlier on charges of “premeditated murder.”
The Iranian court had issued the death sentence against Mahmoudi in a case that continues to stir widespread controversy over the fairness of the judicial procedures followed.
Despite hours passing since the execution, the news was not announced through Iranian media outlets, including those affiliated with Iran’s judiciary, raising questions about the transparency of the system in handling human rights issues in the occupied Ahwaz region.
This incident represents another chapter in the ongoing series of human rights violations committed by Iran in occupied Ahwaz, where ethnic minorities including Arabs in Ahwaz suffer from political and judicial persecution, as well as the continuous suppression of their basic rights.
