Iran’s claims of equipping schools in Al-Salihiyah branded “Propaganda Lies” amid ongoing marginalization of arab education in Al-Ahwaz

Ahwazi activists have refuted Iran’s announcement that 180 schools in Al-Salihiyah city have been prepared to welcome 30,000 students at the start of the new academic year, stressing that these statements are nothing more than political propaganda aimed at covering up the tragic reality of education in Al-Ahwaz, which has been suffering under neglect for more than a century.

Residents confirmed that Iran imposes the Persian language on Arab students by force and bans teaching in Arabic, leading to the marginalization of entire generations and depriving them of their right to learn in their mother tongue.

They pointed out that the schools Iran claims to have equipped are in fact suffering from severe shortages in infrastructure and a lack of basic services. Meanwhile, massive budgets are allocated for building private schools for Persian settlers, fully equipped with the latest educational tools, while Ahwazi children are left in crumbling educational environments.

According to local reports, many schools in Al-Ahwaz lack air conditioning and access to clean drinking water. Cases of poisoning have also been recorded among students in schools designated for Iranian settlers inside Al-Ahwaz, due to corruption and negligence in their management.

Activists argue that Iran’s promotion of investment in education in Al-Ahwaz is nothing but an attempt to polish its image before public opinion, while the reality continues to expose its policy of exclusion and marginalization against the Ahwazi people for more than a hundred years.
