Iran executes two prisoners in Al-Huwayra Prison in Ahwaz amid escalating human rights violations

Iran continues its widespread human rights violations, as Al-Huwayra “Sepidar” Prison in the city of Ahwaz witnessed the execution of two prisoners yesterday, raising the number of those executed on the same day to two.

According to human rights sources, one of the executed prisoners was Rahman Mouloudi, who had previously been convicted of murder and sentenced to death.

The reports also confirmed the execution of another prisoner, Mohammad Nazemi, who had also been detained on charges of murder and sentenced to death by a criminal court.

Despite the gravity of these developments, neither the prison administration nor the Iranian judicial institutions have issued any official statement regarding the execution of the two prisoners at the time of publishing this report, increasing concerns about the secrecy of the procedures and the absence of minimum legal and human rights standards in handling execution cases inside Iranian prisons.

These incidents come amid a noticeable rise in the pace of executions in Iranian prisons, especially in occupied Ahwaz, at a time when international criticism of the Iranian authorities continues to grow due to the lack of fair trials and the ongoing systematic repression of detainees.

Human rights activists warn that the policy of execution soften carried out away from media and judicial oversight constitutes a blatant violation of international law and targets a community already suffering from discrimination and oppression.
