Execution of a Prisoner Carried Out in Ilam Prison, Northern Ahwaz
A prisoner named Eqbal Abdali was executed at dawn on Sunday, August 3, in Ilam Prison, located in northern Ahwaz, following a previous death sentence issued against him on charges of murder.
According to human rights sources, Abdali had been arrested earlier in connection with a criminal case and was later convicted by a court that issued a final ruling for his execution.
The sentence was carried out early this morning without any official announcement from the prison authorities or the relevant judicial bodies at the time of this report.
This incident comes amid a surge in executions across prisons in Iran, drawing both domestic and international human rights criticism.
Activists accuse the authorities of excessive use of the death penalty, especially in the absence of transparency and fair trial guarantees.
It is worth noting that human rights organizations frequently report that executions are often carried out without prior notice to the prisoners’ families or any official declaration afterward, which constitutes a violation of internationally recognized legal and humanitarian standards.
