Arbitrary arrest and enforced disappearance: Mohammad Najrawi, a new victim of iranian repression
Human rights organizations have expressed concern for the life of Ahwazi youth Mohammad Najrawi, whose fate remains unknown since his arrest by Iranian intelligence in April 2025.
According to human rights sources, Najrawi was detained in the city of Ahwaz, the capital, by agents affiliated with Iran’s intelligence services, without any legal warrant or formal charges.
He was taken to an undisclosed location, and his whereabouts remain unknown to this day.
Despite nearly five months having passed since his arrest, his family has failed to obtain any information about his place of detention or health condition, while the authorities refuse to provide any clarification regarding his legal status, raising serious fears of severe violations.
International human rights organizations warn that Najrawi may be held in secret prisons or security centers controlled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, where detainees are often subjected to physical and psychological torture and denied their rights to legal defense, communication with lawyers, or contact with their families.
The case of Mohammad Najrawi reflects a systematic pattern used by Iranian authorities to suppress Ahwazi voices demanding civil, political, and cultural rights through arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, and fabricated political charges.
