The Executive Committee of the State of Ahwaz Calls on the International Community to Stand with the Ahwazi People
The Executive Committee of the Arab State of Ahwaz, in a statement, called on the international community to uphold its commitment to standing by the Ahwazi people and all non-Persian peoples living in Iran. The statement emphasized the need to fully respect their fundamental rights and to assist them in achieving their aspirations and freedom from an oppressive regime that violates their rights.
This call was made during the International Forum on Security and Peace in the Middle East concerning Iran, which took place in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
The statement highlighted that all international conventions and resolutions affirm that, within the framework of international law, the people hold a higher value than the state. The state is a product of historical circumstances, political dynamics, and the impacts of wars and conflicts that have shaped its borders. However, the people remain the highest value under international law and human rights principles.
This is particularly relevant with the development of the modern concept of the contemporary state, which grants peoples the right to demand self-determination or secession from the state, as stipulated by international conventions governing the idea of the state in modern history.
The statement concluded by urging the international community and human rights organizations to intensify their efforts to address the widespread violations committed by Iran against the Ahwazi people and other non-Persian groups. It called for supporting their legitimate rights in order to achieve security and peace in the Middle East.
