Execution of a prisoner in Al-Huwayra, Ahwaz

Human rights activists reported on Wednesday morning, October 1, 2025, that Iran carried out the execution of prisoner Jahan Hoshmand (36 years old) from the city of Quneitra, inside Al-Huwayra “Sepidar” prison in the occupied city of Ahwaz.

According to human rights sources, Hoshmand had been arrested about six years ago on charges of murder, and he was sentenced to death by Iranian criminal courts.

Activists pointed out that, as of the time of preparing this report, the prison authorities had not informed the prisoner’s family or relevant human rights organizations about the execution, raising concerns about the ongoing human rights violations and lack of transparency in death penalty cases in Ahwaz.
