Ahwazi Detainee Sentenced to 12 Years in Sheyban Prison

The Iranian Revolutionary Court in the occupied capital of Ahwaz has sentenced Majid Al-Sari, a 33-year-old Ahwazi citizen from the Alawi neighborhood in Ahwaz, to 12 and a half years in prison on political charges.

Following the verdict, Majid Al-Sari was transferred to the fifth ward of Sheyban Prison, which is under the control of the Iranian occupation in Ahwaz, where he is currently being held.

Majid Al-Sari, also known as “Abu Ismail Al-Suwari,” is a resident of the Alawi neighborhood in Ahwaz.

He was arrested in June 2022 due to his political activities, which were deemed anti-regime by the authorities.

The Revolutionary Court in Ahwaz charged him with multiple offenses, including “acting against national security” and “propaganda against the regime.”

This case is part of a series of arrests targeting political activists in Ahwaz, as the Iranian regime seeks to suppress any movements that could threaten its stability.

The verdict against Al-Sari has been widely criticized by human rights organizations, which have condemned such trials as violations of individuals’ rights to freedom of expression and political participation.

Both local and international human rights organizations continue to demand the release of Majid Al-Sari and an end to the political repression targeting activists in Ahwaz.
