Iran executes Ahwazi citizen Sajad Shukri without prior notice
Iranian authorities carried out the execution of Ahwazi citizen Sajad Shukri early this morning inside Al-Huwaira (Sepidar) Prison, without giving prior notice to his family or lawyer an act that constitutes a blatant violation of basic human rights.
According to available information, Shukri had previously been arrested on charges related to a murder case before an Iranian criminal court sentenced him to death. The verdict was issued amid a clear absence of fair trial standards and adequate defense guarantees.
Despite the execution, no official Iranian body has, at the time of writing, released any formal statement about the incident. This silence raises serious doubts about the legality and timing of the execution, especially given the secrecy surrounding the prison administration.
This incident represents yet another example of the escalating systematic violations committed by Iranian authorities against Ahwazi citizens, including arbitrary executions and mass arrests. International human rights organizations continue to condemn such actions and call for accountability and an immediate halt to these abuses.
The execution is expected to provoke widespread anger among the Ahwazi community and international human rights circles, amid growing calls to internationalize the issue of Iranian violations in the occupied region.
