Water crisis in Khorr musa villages, central Ahwaz, amid discontent over delayed repairs

Local sources in the city of Khorr Musa, central Ahwaz, revealed the worsening drinking water crisis in several villages under the city’s jurisdiction, amid widespread public discontent over the slow and negligent response of Iran in repairing the damaged water lines.

According to the sources, the main reasons behind the recurring breaks and outages are the aging and corroded water network, the passage of heavy vehicles over the main pipelines, as well as the presence of unauthorized branches connected to the system.

These issues have led to a significant drop in water pressure and a serious decline in quality.

Residents, particularly in outlying areas, suffer from an acute shortage of clean drinking water, forcing many to rely on alternative sources that are either irregularly available or of poor quality.

Locals have urged the authorities to intervene promptly to rehabilitate the water network and address the root causes of repeated damage, stressing that access to clean water is among the most basic human rights and warning that the continuation of the crisis poses serious health and environmental risks.
