The European Parliament Invites Ahwaz Government-in-Exile Head Aref Al-Kaabi to Speak on Iran’s Future
In a notable move reflecting growing European interest in political developments in the Middle East, the European Parliament has extended an official invitation to Dr. Aref Al-Kaabi, Head of the Executive Council of the State of Ahwaz, to deliver an address before its members concerning the future of Iran and the broader region.
Dr. Al-Kaabi is expected to focus in his upcoming speech on several key issues, most notably the situation of non-Persian peoples in Iran, the future of the Iranian political system, and ways to support democratic aspirations across the region. This invitation comes as part of a special session dedicated to discussing the Iranian file, during which European institutions will examine the prospects for political transformation in Tehran and its regional and international implications.
Al-Kaabi welcomed the invitation, describing it as “a growing recognition of the suffering of the Ahwazi people and a sign that the voices of the oppressed are beginning to resonate within international institutions.”
He also noted that his speech would carry “a message of peace and freedom, reflecting the aspirations of peoples under Iranian domination to determine their own destiny.”
This appearance marks a significant milestone for the Head of the Ahwaz Executive Council in such a high-level European forum, potentially signaling a shift in Europe’s approach to ethnic and national issues within Iran.
