The European Commission Calls on Germany to Review Asylum Applications for Ahwazi Citizens
The International European Commission for Development and Human Rights in Germany has urged Germany to reconsider asylum applications from citizens of the occupied Arab state of Ahwaz, in light of ongoing human rights abuses faced by the Ahwazi Arab people at the hands of the Iranian occupation.
The Commission highlighted that the Ahwazi Arab people suffer from a range of severe violations by the Iranian occupation, including ethnic and religious discrimination, as well as deprivation of basic rights, such as the right to education in their native language and the freedom to preserve their cultural and religious identity.
The European Commission stated, “We have extensive documentation of these systematic human rights violations against the Ahwazi people and are closely working with the Executive Authority of the Arab State of Ahwaz, based in Brussels, which is committed to defending the rights of the Ahwazi Arab people and shedding light on the ongoing injustices they endure.”
As part of the collaboration between the International European Commission for Development and Human Rights and the Executive Authority of the Arab State of Ahwaz, the Commission has expressed its readiness to work closely with the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) to foster dialogue with German security authorities regarding the issues faced by Ahwazi migrants.
The Commission assured the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees of its commitment to providing evidence and documentation of the human rights violations suffered by the Ahwazi people under the Iranian regime, underscoring their right to asylum in Germany.
The International European Commission for Development and Human Rights expressed hope that the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees would view the asylum applications of Ahwazi citizens favorably, in line with Germany’s commitment to human rights and the protection of persecuted refugees according to international humanitarian standards.
The Commission emphasized the importance of providing legal protection to Ahwazi citizens in Germany, as part of its commitment to the humanitarian values and principles Germany promotes in supporting refugees and the persecuted worldwide.
