Over 55 Ahwazi Citizens Arrested Within 48 Hours

The Iranian occupation authorities have continued their crackdown on Ahwazi citizens during the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Ahwaz’s occupation in 1925.

According to Persian media reports, over 55 Ahwazi citizens were arrested in the past 48 hours under the pretext of confronting “troublemakers.”

Earlier, the Iranian authorities announced the arrest of Ahwazi citizens on charges of espionage for a Gulf state, reflecting the climate of fear prevailing within the occupying forces in Ahwaz.

The Iranian occupation police in Ahwaz claimed they had confiscated several combat and hunting weapons during raids on the homes of Ahwazi citizens.

Additionally, Iranian intelligence summoned hundreds of Ahwazi individuals who had been arrested in previous protests, warning them against participating in any demonstrations in the upcoming weeks as Ahwazis mark the centenary of their land’s occupation.

Most of those summoned are residents of the Ahwaz capital, Ma’shour, Al-Muhammara, Al-Falahiya, Susa, Khormousa, Hormoz, Bushehr, the port city of Jumbaron, Idj, Tustar, and Karun.

These summonses coincided with a widespread wave of arrests initiated by the Iranian intelligence forces and the Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence unit in various regions of Ahwaz since mid-December.

The arrest campaign specifically targeted writers, poets, cultural activists, environmental advocates, and leaders of labor and educational unions.
