Medical negligence threatens the life of Ahwazi Prisoner majid khademi in Behbahan prison

The suffering of Ahwazi political prisoner Majid Khademi continues to worsen inside Arjan (Behbahan) Prison, under the authority of Iran, amid harsh detention conditions and a complete lack of medical care putting his life at serious risk amid alarming silence from human rights and media organizations.

According to reliable human rights sources, Khademi suffers from a severe skin disease with visible symptoms on his body, along with bruises indicating torture and ill-treatment inside the prison.

Despite his deteriorating condition, he has not received any adequate medical treatment, highlighting the ongoing violations of the rights of Ahwazi prisoners in Iranian prisons.

Repeated Arrests and a Political Trial

Majid Khademi was first arrested on January 18, 2019, by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Intelligence, and later released on bail in June 2021 after spending a long period in arbitrary detention.

However, his ordeal did not end there. He was rearrested in July 2022 after being tried before the “Revolutionary Court” in the city of Ma’shour, in a trial widely described as lacking the most basic standards of justice.

In April 2023, the court sentenced him to 10 years and 1 month in prison, along with two years of forced exile in the Taft province, on politically motivated charges, including “assembly and collusion against national security” and “propaganda against the regime.”

Even after his temporary release, Khademi continued to face tight security surveillance and attempts to infiltrate his personal life through suspicious approaches by Iranian security agents seeking to pressure and entrap him.

He was also banned from any academic or professional activity, despite being an electrical engineering student at Arjan University before his arrest a blatant violation of his right to education and work.

Khademi previously spent part of his imprisonment in the notorious Sheiban Prison, which he described as “the worst prison in the world.”

He confirmed that the torture and psychological and physical pressure he endured there surpassed what he later experienced in Arjan Prison.

In leaked testimonies, Khademi stated that he contracted several illnesses in Sheiban Prison, including ear and eye infections, facial hair loss, and psychological disorders, all under complete medical neglect and intentional disregard by the prison administration for his deteriorating health condition.
