Iran Executes Two Prisoners from Ahwaz and Kurdistan in Quneitra and Ilam

In a blatant violation of human rights, Iran carried out the execution of two prisoners, Amir Hossein Pour and Hamid Sarlak, in the prisons of Ilam and Quneitra, north of occupied Ahwaz, on the mornings of Monday and Tuesday, August 11 and 12, 2025.

The executions followed court rulings against them on charges related to drugs and murder.

According to the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on the morning of Tuesday, August 12, prisoner Hamid Sarlak, a resident of Quneitra (Dezful), was executed in Quneitra Central Prison.

He had previously been arrested on charges of “premeditated murder” and sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary, which has long faced widespread criticism and accusations of lacking transparency and fairness in its proceedings.

On Monday, August 11, Kurdish prisoner Amir Hossein Pour, aged 34, was executed in Ilam Central Prison after four years of detention on drug-related charges that ultimately resulted in a death sentence.
