Human rights organizations: execution of six Ahwazi prisoners in Al-Huweira prison Is a “Blatant violation of the right to life”

Thirteen international and local human rights organizations have condemned the execution of six Ahwazi political prisoners by the Iranian occupation authorities in Al-Huweira (Sepidar) Prison in occupied Ahwaz on Saturday, October 4, 2025, describing the act as a legal and humanitarian crime that contradicts international human rights principles.

In a joint statement, the organizations expressed their deep sorrow and regret over these executions, which were carried out under judicial orders without fair trials, independent legal representation, or prior notification to the families constituting a flagrant violation of the right to life and human dignity.

The statement identified the executed prisoners as Ali Mujahid, Moein Khanfari, Seyed Salem Mousavi, Mohammad Reza Moghadam, Adnan Al-Bashouka (Ghabishawi), and Habib Daris.
The organizations added that the victims were subjected to prolonged torture and denied their basic rights. Their bodies were not returned to their families, and their burial sites remain unknown.

The statement further noted that Iranian occupation security forces threatened the victims’ families and tribal elders, prohibiting them from holding funerals, distributing Qurans, or organizing any religious ceremonies.

These actions, it said, reflect a systematic policy of oppression and discrimination against the Ahwazi people.

The organizations also rejected Tehran’s justification for the executions on charges such as “espionage and communication with Israel,” calling it a false pretext for politically motivated punishment against detainees who have been imprisoned since 2018 and 2019, without any credible evidence in their official case files.

Finally, the organizations called on international governments and institutions to pressure Iran to halt political executions, release political detainees, and hold those responsible for these violations accountable.
