Crackdown and Arrests in Ahwaz: Sheyban Prison Witnesses Torture and Denial of Healthcare
Dozens of Ahwazi prisoners and detainees are held in Sheyban Prison under Iranian occupation following a large-scale arrest campaign conducted by the occupation authorities in several Ahwazi cities, marking the centennial of Ahwaz’s occupation.
Medical sources reported that numerous detained Ahwazis face harsh conditions in detention centers and Sheyban Prison, where they are denied medical and healthcare services.
The arrests of these Ahwazi citizens follow the detention of dozens of others at the end of December. These detainees were subjected to severe psychological and emotional torture in security detention centers, particularly those operated by intelligence agencies, including the IRGC detention center (Information Base 114).
Most prisoners suffer from bone pain, and the overall health conditions are extremely poor. Bathrooms and toilets are unusable, increasing the risk of skin diseases among the detainees.
The prisoners also face inadequate healthcare and malfunctioning heating systems, raising serious concerns for their lives due to the severe torture inflicted by IRGC militias.
These concerns arise as Sheyban Prison is notorious among human rights activists for its unsuitable conditions and inhumane treatment of detainees.
