Ahwazi Anger Erupts Over the Smuggling of Historical Grave Markers to Qatar by an Iranian Mafia Network
A wave of anger has swept through the Ahwazi community on Qeshm Island in the Arabian Gulf following reports of Ahwazi artifacts being smuggled to Qatar through an Iranian mafia network.
Residents of Qeshm Island reported that in recent months, there have been systematic thefts of grave markers from the Turian Plain on the island, which were transported to museums in Qatar.
Ahwazi locals on Qeshm Island emphasized that the grave markers stolen from the Turian Plain represent a blatant assault on the history and heritage of the Ahwazi people.
The Turian Plain on Qeshm Island is home to more than 100 ancient grave markers dating back to the 6th and 7th centuries AH. So far, 50 of these markers have been looted and smuggled to Doha, where they are now displayed in Qatari museums.
Ahwazi residents have expressed their outrage and discontent over the continued plundering of their history and artifacts, which are being smuggled abroad by an Iranian mafia allegedly operated by the Revolutionary Guard militias.
The issue remains a subject of contention between the Ahwazi people and local authorities, as Qeshm residents strive to protect this critical historical heritage from further theft or loss.
