A year of detention and torture: Ahwazi activist Mostafa Mohammadi held in sheiban prison
Informed sources reported that civil and online activist Mostafa Mohammadi (Mormadi), an Ahwazi activist, has been detained for nearly a year in Sheiban Prison in the city of Ahwaz, after being arrested by Iranian forces in the city of Hoveyzeh, north of Ahwaz.
According to the sources, Mohammadi is facing inhumane conditions inside the prison.
Since his arrest, he has been subjected to severe physical and psychological torture, which resulted in two broken ribs during interrogation sessions.
Despite these injuries, he has not received any adequate medical care and remains held in the fifth ward of Sheiban Prison.
Mohammadi faces charges of “propaganda against the regime” due to his online activities, with his case being pursued in Branch 12 of the Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Ahwaz.
The sources indicate that the activist’s family has repeatedly approached judicial authorities to obtain information about his legal and health status, but they were met with neglect and humiliating treatment by officials.
Human rights organizations are calling for Mohammadi’s immediate release, provision of necessary medical care, and the opening of an investigation into the abuses he has suffered during his detention.
