Political Prisoner Adnan Mousawi  held in harsh conditions Faces risk of execution

The fate of political prisoner Adnan Mousawi, also known as Adnan Ghabishawi, remains unknown amid growing fears that he may soon face execution in the notorious Al-Hawira Prison.

Mousawi was arrested in February 2018 and held in several detention centers, including Sheyban Prison in Al-Ahwaz, where he endured inhumane conditions. He spent months in solitary confinement in cramped cells measuring approximately 12 square meters, lacking both heating and cooling systems, forcing him to endure extreme temperatures. During his detention, he was subjected to physical and psychological torture, denied contact with his family, legal representation, or the right to receive visits.

In October 2024, reliable sources reported that Iranian security forces transferred Mousawi from Sheyban Prison to Sepidar Prison, raising serious concerns that the death sentence against him might soon be carried out.

On February 15, 2022, the Revolutionary Court in Ahwaz sentenced Mousawi and five other Arab Iranians from Al-Ahwaz to death on charges related to “waging war” and alleged affiliation with illegal groups. The verdict was based on confessions extracted under torture, without credible evidence. Iran’s judiciary-affiliated Mizan News Agency announced the sentence on March 5, 2022.

This development comes as human rights activists express deep concern for Mousawi’s life, highlighting his unwavering fight for justice and freedom. International calls are mounting to raise his voice and take urgent action to save his life.
